350+ designs from five brands: Hohenberger (150+), Exclusive Wallcoverings (100+), JWall (40+), Viveiro (35+) and H&H Wallcoverings (20+). Collections include Hohenberger's Cerra, Yuuma and Raku, and Exclusive's Antibes, Herbarium and Serenity.

The palette is calm: beige (100+), cream (80+), grey (65+) and ivory lead, with some greens, golds and silvers. All but 13 are wallpapers; those 13 are murals.

Most designs (300+) come in the standard 0.53 m x 10 m roll, about 5.3 sq m. JWall's rolls are 1 m x 5 m and H&H's 1.06 m x 5 m; murals are sold as a full panel set, such as 2.8 x 3 m.

To count standard rolls, count drops, not area. A 10 m roll gives three full drops on a wall up to about 3 m high, and each drop covers 0.53 m of width. A 3.5 m wide wall needs seven drops, so three rolls, with a fourth as a margin if the pattern has a large repeat. Buy all the rolls from the same batch.

Check the wall first

Wallpaper needs a smooth, dry, sound wall. Fix any seepage or damp patch before papering, because damp behind wallpaper leads to peeling and stains. On a wall with a history of damp, fix the source and let the wall dry out first; no wall finish cures seepage.

Pattern repeat

Patterned papers have to line up from drop to drop, which uses extra length. The bigger the repeat, the more each drop loses, so add a roll for large patterns.

One wall or the whole room

A single feature wall behind the bed or TV is the easiest place to start, and the easiest to change later. Every design here is tagged for living rooms, bedrooms and feature walls.

An experienced wallpaper installer rather than a painter. Pasting, trimming and matching seams are skilled work, and a bad seam shows forever.

One large image printed across several panels to cover a whole wall, sold as a set in the listed size rather than by the roll.
