Wall panels vs louvers
Our louvers section is mostly strips and printed sheets. This section is the wider world of wall panelling: 1,300+ designs across quite different materials, from printed PVC to real stone. For fluted strips, look at louvers; for a sculpted, stone or patterned wall, start here.
What's in the range, by material
- PVC wall panels (600+): the largest group, most often 6 mm, in geometric, fluted, solid-colour and marble designs, including the Spectre III range.
- PU stone (100+): Superstone's moulded faux-stone panels, from about 20 mm to over 100 mm deep.
- Natural stone veneer (85+): Flexoera's thin, flexible layers of real stone, 1 to 3 mm.
- MDF (65+) from Meridian, mineral composite (60+) from Monoso, charcoal sheet (50+) and a few FRP panels.
By look, geometric designs lead (400+), then marble and stone (200+), textures, fluted, cane, patterns and solid colours. Most listings (850+) are Meridian ranges such as Spectre III and Legno D'Arte, sold under our Next Level Decor label; the other makers are Superstone (100+), Flexoera (85+), Meridian's own MDF panels (65+), Monoso (65+) and Pebble (30+).
Choosing a wall panel
Material for the location
Indoors and dry, anything goes. MDF swells if it gets wet, so keep it to dry walls. For humid rooms, check the moisture rating on the listing; 450+ designs are listed as moisture resistant. On a wall with seepage, fix the damp first. Outside, use only designs listed as Indoor and Outdoor (100+); these are mostly the PU stone panels, tagged for facades and boundary walls.
Check the size options
Many designs are offered in more than one size, usually 8x2 and 8x4 ft, some also in 9.5 or 10 ft lengths. Choose the longest size that fits the wall height to avoid a horizontal joint, and check which size the listed price is for.
Faux stone or real stone
PU stone gives deep, rugged texture at a fraction of stone's weight and suits feature walls and elevations. Natural stone veneer is real stone, with real variation and a genuine stone feel, but it is thin and needs a flat, rigid backing.
Where wall panels are used
Most designs carry several tags, so these counts overlap. After the general interior-decor tag, feature walls lead (1,100+), then wall panelling (950+), furniture (350+) and ceilings (150+). The stone panels add facades (100+) and boundary walls (100+). For outside walls, see exterior cladding: the louvers, wall panels and veneers listed for outdoor use. At home, the usual spots are the bed back wall, the TV wall and the living room feature wall.
Wall panel FAQs
What is wall panelling?
Wall panelling means covering a wall with panels instead of only paint, for texture, pattern or depth. Panels can be PVC, MDF, stone, charcoal or wood-based, and they usually go on one feature wall rather than the whole room.
Wall panel or louver: what's the difference?
A louver is a narrow strip with grooves, fixed in a row. A wall panel is a wider sheet, flat, textured, carved or stone-faced, that covers a wall in fewer pieces. For vertical lines and shadow, choose louvers; for pattern or stone, choose panels.
Wall panel or wallpaper?
Wallpaper is thin and flat. A wall panel has body and texture, handles knocks better, and the thicker ones can hide small wall defects that wallpaper would show.
How are PVC wall panels installed?
Usually with panel adhesive on a clean, dry, level wall, or on a batten frame where the wall is uneven, with trims at the edges and corners. Start from the centre of the feature wall so the pattern sits evenly at both ends.
Are PVC wall panels safe for a bedroom?
PVC panels are a common choice for bedrooms and living rooms. Keep them away from heat sources such as lamps fixed tight against the panel, and air the room after fixing while the adhesive cures. If you need a specific fire or emission rating, ask us for that product's datasheet before you order.
Can wall panels go in a kitchen or bathroom?
On dry walls away from the hob and outside the shower area, a moisture-rated panel can. Check the moisture rating on the listing, seal the edges, and never clad over a damp patch.
Can PU stone panels go outside?
Yes: every PU stone panel here is listed for indoor and outdoor use. Ask about sealing and fixing for an exterior wall before you order.
Which wall panel design suits a living room?
For a TV wall, a geometric or fluted panel in a neutral grey, beige or white keeps the focus on the screen. For a statement wall, stone or marble looks work best on a wall that gets side light, which brings out the texture.
How many panels do I need?
Divide the wall area by the area of one panel (16 sq ft for 8x2 ft, 32 sq ft for 8x4 ft) and add about 10 percent for cuts and pattern matching. Measure around doors and switchboards.
What is the price of wall panels?
Each design shows its own price on its page, GST included, for the size listed. Where a design comes in several sizes, check which one the price is for. For a whole wall or a project, ask the store for a quote.
Explore the ranges
Start with geometric wall panels, Meridian wall panels or Pebble DECOWALL. For 3D tiles, see 3D wall panels, and to finish the base of the wall, skirting boards.
Texture and stone are worth touching first. See wall panel samples at our Choolai or OMR store in Chennai, and call ahead for a specific design.
