What's in marble and stone laminates
4,600+ designs, the third-largest look in our laminates after wood and plain colours. Grey leads (1,500+), then white (900+), brown, beige and black. Search the titles and you will find concrete (90+), onyx (60+), slate (55+), granite (50+), Carrara (45+), Statuario (40+) and Calacatta (35+) looks, plus some terrazzo and travertine.
Texture is the most common finish (1,900+), then high gloss (1,200+), matte and gloss. 1 mm is the main thickness (2,800+), with 0.8, 1.5 and 1.25 mm. There are 300+ acrylic and 300+ PVC marble designs, and a few large sheets (6 x 12, 10 x 4 and 4.25 x 10 ft) for walls. Among brands, Virgo (250+), Advance Laminates (250+), Stylam (200+) and Royale Touche (200+) carry the most.
Choosing a marble laminate
Polished or honed
High gloss reads like polished marble and looks more formal. Texture and matte read like honed or natural stone and hide fingerprints better. For kitchen shutters that get handled, the textured look is the practical one; save gloss for TV units, wall panels and foyer furniture.
Match the veins
A marble pattern looks real when the veins continue across neighbouring shutters. Ask the carpenter to cut adjacent shutters from the same sheet, in sequence, with the vein running the same way. It uses a little more sheet and it is worth it.
Scale of the pattern
Big, bold veins need big faces, like a full-height wardrobe or a wall. On small drawers, pick a quieter stone with fine veining, or a speckled granite or terrazzo look.
Large sheets for walls
For a TV wall with no joints, look at the large-format sheets. One 6 x 12 ft sheet covers 72 sq ft, an area that would take three 8x4 sheets and two joints.
Where marble laminates go
Kitchens (3,000+ designs) and wardrobes (1,600+) lead the furniture tags, then TV units (1,400+); designs carry several tags, so these overlap. 800+ carry a bathroom tag, a higher share than the laminate range overall, for vanity shutters and dry bathroom walls.
Marble laminate FAQs
Marble laminate or real marble?
Real marble belongs on floors and counters that take heat and heavy use. Marble laminate is for furniture, shutters and wall panels, where real stone would be far too heavy. It needs no sealing and doesn't soak up stains the way porous marble can.
Can marble laminate go on a kitchen counter?
On an island top or dining counter away from the stove, yes, in 1 mm or thicker, with hot vessels kept on a trivet. Next to the hob, use real stone.
What is a PVC marble sheet?
A flexible PVC sheet with a marble face, mostly 1.2 or 1.25 mm here, used mainly for wall panelling rather than furniture.

This look is one part of our full laminates range. For walls with depth, see marble and stone louvers. The most common marble colours have their own pages: white and grey laminates. For the polished look, high gloss laminates; for the flexible sheets, PVC laminates.
Marble is best judged large. Ask to see samples at our Choolai or OMR store in Chennai before you cut.
