Metallic Louvers

The metallic range

250+ designs, and brown leads with 100+ designs, which in metallic terms means bronze and copper-type shades, ahead of grey (40+), black (35+), gold (35+) and silver.

Where a finish is listed it is texture, velvet, matte or fluted rather than mirror gloss. There are 150+ narrow strips (12 mm is the common thickness) and 70+ sheets 2 ft wide, many of them just 1.5 mm thick. Cores are unusually mixed: charcoal (65+), metal (30+), MDF (30+), HDF (25+) and PVC (45+).

Euro Pratik has the most designs (45+). Sterlina Design (30+) adds metallic velvet strips, and Bloom and Beautiful (25+) carries a good set too. Our own Next Level Louvers label (17) adds metallic PVC strips, including from its Korea Series. Lyssa, Stelio and Dazzle are series to look at.

Using metallic louvers well

Accent, not wallpaper

A full wall of metallic can feel like a showroom. It works best as an accent: a vertical band behind the TV, strips set between plain wood louvers, the back of a bar unit, or a ceiling border. 38% of these designs are tagged for feature walls.

Metal core or metal look

Designs listed with a metal core (30+) are thin metal sheets, not a metal-look print. They are stiffer and need different cutting tools, so tell your carpenter in advance. The rest are metallic faces on charcoal, MDF, HDF or PVC and work with ordinary panel tools.

Thin sheets and sheen

A 1.5 mm metallic sheet shows every dip in the surface behind it, and the sheen exaggerates it. Put these sheets on a smooth board backing, not straight onto rough plaster.

Hands off

Metallic faces show hand marks. Place them above hand height or where nobody leans, and wipe them with a dry microfibre cloth.

Where metallic louvers suit

Living rooms and offices lead the tags. Typical uses: TV and bar walls at home, reception and logo walls in offices, and restaurant, salon and jewellery shop interiors that want some shine. 55+ designs are tagged for ceilings, where a metallic strip border catches the light.

Metallic louver FAQs

Gold or bronze: which is easier to live with?

Bronze and brown-toned metallics sit easily with wood and beige. Gold is more formal and needs restraint.

Can metallic and wood louvers share a wall?

Yes, and it is one of the best uses. Pick the same thickness for both so the faces line up, and let the metallic strips be the minority.

Do metallic panels suit a small room?

As a narrow band or inlay, yes. A whole wall of shine in a small room tends to feel busy.
