What's in the plain colour range

This is the quietest corner of the louver section: 800+ designs with one solid colour and no wood grain, marble or pattern. 76% of them are narrow fluted strips, which makes sense, because on a plain face it is the grooves that give the wall its character.

Grey leads (160 designs), then white (100+), brown (100+) and beige (65+). Greens (50+) and blues (25+) are there for anyone who wants colour rather than a neutral. Where a finish is listed, matte outnumbers texture, 150+ to 100+.

12 mm is the most common strip thickness (250+), with 11, 10 and 8 mm options for a shallower profile. Lengths split between 8 ft and 9 to 10 ft, and 300+ designs come in the longer size. Charcoal is the main core (300+), then WPC (90+) and PVC (85+). Mystic (80+), Euro Pratik (60+) and Bloom and Beautiful (40+) are the biggest named brands.

Getting a plain louver to look right

Check the wall before the colour

A solid colour hides nothing. If the wall bows or the plaster has a hump, the shadow lines between flutes go wavy and you will notice it every evening when the lights come on. Have the wall checked with a straight edge, and pack or batten it out where needed, before fixing.

Buy the full quantity together

Solid colours can shift slightly between production lots. On a busy wood print it is hard to spot; on a flat grey it can show. Work out the full count, add a couple of spare strips, and buy in one go.

Matte or textured

Matte gives a clean, painted look and wipes easily. A light texture hides fingerprints and small scuffs better, which helps on a passage wall or near switches.

Deep or shallow profile

12 mm strips with deep grooves read strongly from across the room. In a corridor, or anywhere you see the wall from close up, a shallower 8 to 10 mm strip is less busy.

Where plain colour louvers work

More than nine in ten designs here carry a bedroom tag, more than eight in ten carry living room and office tags, and 350+ for TV cabinet walls; designs carry several tags, so these overlap. Typical spots: a white or grey strip wall behind the bed, a dark strip panel behind the TV with the cables run behind it, and brand-colour strips in cafes and offices. 90+ are listed for indoor and outdoor use.

Why are most plain louvers strips, not sheets?

A flat sheet in one colour looks like a painted wall. The flutes are what make it a feature, so plain colours are made mostly as strips.

Plain or wood louvers for a small bedroom?

A light plain colour keeps a small room calm. Wood adds warmth but more visual noise. Either way, keep it to one wall.

How do I match a louver to my wall paint?

Take your paint shade card or a painted offcut and compare it with the sample in daylight and again under your own lights. If it can't match closely, go for clear contrast instead.

Can I fix these on a damp wall?

Fix the damp first. Charcoal and WPC handle humidity better than MDF, but any panel on a wet wall traps the moisture behind it.
