What's in the fluted range
A fluted panel has rounded or square grooves running along its length, so the wall gets a rhythm of light and shadow. By shape, there are 250+ narrow strips, 100+ planks about a foot wide and 50+ sheets 2 ft wide, plus a few square tiles. Most pieces are 8 ft long, and 150+ come in longer 9.35 to 9.84 ft lengths for taller walls.
Where the core is listed, MDF leads (200+), then charcoal (45+) and PVC (25+), with a few aluminium strips. Almost all are textured (300+) or matte (100+). Euro Pratik makes more than four in five of them (400+), in series such as Chisel, Chisel Rio, Artisans and Cassa; Metaluxe adds PVC fluted strips.
How to choose a fluted panel
Strips, planks or sheets
Narrow strips give the finest, most vertical look and follow a slightly uneven wall better. A 1 ft plank covers the wall faster with wider flutes. A 2 ft sheet goes up quickest and suits large walls and shop fronts, but needs a flat wall behind it.
Thin profiles or rigid strips
95+ designs are listed at 1.5 mm, mostly narrow strips; some series, such as Chisel Flex, are sold as flexible strips. Thin profiles need a smooth, flat base such as plywood. The 8 mm and 12 mm strips are rigid and go straight onto a wall or a batten frame. Check the thickness on each listing before you plan the fixing.
Core for the room
MDF fluted panels feel solid but must stay dry. For kitchens, utility walls and humid flats, choose charcoal or PVC, kept clear of the hob. Only 8 designs are listed for outdoor use, so treat the rest as indoor panels.
Where fluted panels work
Each design carries several room tags, so these overlap: more than four in five are tagged for living rooms, bedrooms, offices and hotels, and 400+ for ceilings. At home, the classic spots are the TV wall, the wall behind the bed, a partition between living and dining, and a ceiling band over the dining table.
Fluted panel FAQs
What is a fluted panel?
A wall panel or strip with parallel rounded or square grooves along its length. The grooves throw shadows, so a plain wall gets texture and a vertical rhythm without any carving on site.
Fluted panel or fluted laminate: what's the difference?
A fluted panel is a strip or board with real depth, fixed straight onto the wall. A fluted laminate is a thin 8x4 ft sheet with shallow grooves, pasted onto plywood or MDF, mostly for wardrobe shutters and furniture fronts.
MDF, charcoal or PVC fluted panels: which is best?
In a dry bedroom or living room, MDF gives the most solid feel. Charcoal is lighter and copes with humidity better. PVC minds water least, so it suits kitchens and utility walls. Keep every type away from direct heat.
Vertical or horizontal flutes?
Vertical flutes make a ceiling look higher, which suits most Indian flats with 9 to 10 ft ceilings. Horizontal flutes make a narrow wall look wider and work well on a long, low TV unit wall.
Can fluted panels go on the ceiling?
Yes, and most designs here are tagged for ceilings. Fix them to a proper ceiling frame with screws, not adhesive alone, and plan the light fittings before the panels go up.
How are fluted panels fixed?
Rigid strips go on with panel adhesive plus small nails or clips, onto a flat wall or a batten frame. Thin 1.5 mm profiles are pasted onto a smooth plywood or MDF base. Finish the ends with matching trims.
How many fluted panels do I need?
Divide the wall width by the covered width of one strip or plank and add two or three spare for cuts. For a 10 ft wall with 1 ft planks, that is 10 planks plus spares. Choose a length that reaches the false ceiling in one piece.
Can I use fluted panels in a kitchen or bathroom?
In a kitchen, yes, in charcoal or PVC on walls away from the hob. In a bathroom, only on dry walls outside the shower area. Never clad over a damp wall; fix the seepage first.
How do you clean fluted panels?
Dust settles in the grooves, so run a soft brush or a vacuum brush along the flutes every few weeks, then wipe with a cloth dampened in mild soapy water. Avoid soaking MDF panels.
What is the price of fluted panels?
Each design shows its own price on its page, GST included, for the strip or sheet size listed. Work out how many pieces your wall needs, then compare. For a full wall or a project, ask the store for a quote.
