What the PVC range covers

700+ designs with a PVC core. Wood looks lead (200+), followed by patterned designer faces (200+), then marble and stone looks and plain colours, with metallic faces as well (45+). Browns lead the colours (300+), then greys (150+).

Most are narrow strips (500+), mostly 6 to 12 mm thick, with 11 mm and 12 mm the most common. 350+ designs come in 9 to 10 ft lengths, which saves a joint on a tall wall. There are also 2 ft wide sheets (150+), mostly 4 mm, and 1 ft planks (50+), mostly 8 mm. Thin 1 to 3 mm sheets are listed too (40+).

Mystic has the largest PVC range (350+ designs), all strips and 1 ft planks, in wood, plain colour and marble looks. Euro Pratik has 100+ PVC designs, and our own Next Level Louvers label has 75+, including the Korea Series. Metaluxe (20+) adds a few more. Named series include Allure and Sattvak.

Choosing PVC louvers

Why PVC

PVC doesn't swell or rot when it gets wet. That is why it is the go-to core for kitchen and dining walls, wash areas and the underside of a balcony slab. It is also light, which helps on ceilings. Keep it clear of the hob and chimney, though, because heat can soften and warp PVC.

Thin sheets need a flat base

A 1 to 4 mm PVC sheet follows whatever is behind it. On uneven plaster every bump shows, especially on a glossy or metallic face. Fix thin sheets on a levelled wall, or over a plywood or PVC board base.

Leave room to move

PVC expands and contracts with temperature more than wood-based panels. On long runs, and on walls that take the afternoon sun, leave the small gaps at ends and joints that the maker recommends, or the panels can bow.

Outdoors: check the listing

100+ designs are listed for indoor and outdoor use and 250+ for indoor use only; the rest carry no listing, so treat them as indoor only. All-day direct sun is hard on any PVC, so for a west-facing elevation, stick to the outdoor-listed designs and lean towards a lighter colour.

Where PVC louvers suit

Living room is the most common tag (600+ designs), then bedroom (400+), with wardrobe (350+) and office (350+) close behind; Mystic's designs carry no office tag. 95+ designs carry a kitchen tag. PVC is the core to choose for bathroom walls outside the shower zone, utility and wash areas, covered balconies and ceilings (35+ tagged). Designs carry several room tags, so these counts overlap.

Is a PVC louver waterproof?

The PVC itself doesn't absorb water. Water can still get behind a wall of panels through open joints and cut edges, so seal those with silicone in wet areas.

PVC or charcoal for a bathroom?

Both handle humidity. On a wall near water but outside the shower area, PVC is the safer choice; seal joints and cut edges.

Can PVC louvers go on a ceiling?

Yes, it is one of the easier cores to use overhead because it is light. Screw it to a ceiling frame rather than gluing it to the slab.
