Benny Kuriakose & associates

Benny Kuriakose & Associates is an architectural and conservation consultancy founded by Dr. Benny Kuriakose in Chennai in 1991. The practice works in the Laurie Baker tradition of cost-effective, climate-responsive and sustainable design, spanning residential homes, heritage conservation, hospitality and public/institutional projects with a strong respect for vernacular craft and historical context.

Dr. Kuriakose trained under Laurie Baker from 1984, holds an MA in Conservation Studies from the University of York and a doctorate from IIT Madras. His landmark work includes the Dakshinachitra cultural centre in Chennai and post-tsunami reconstruction housing, and he has consulted for organisations including the UNDP and UNESCO.
